![]() I’ve been listening to ABR since high school and have to say they’ve never disappointed then and haven’t even on this 8th record. I already know a lot of people will do whining “oh they’re not as heavy anymore” or complain about singing in one way or another and if those people can’t see the atmosphere ABR created by using different tones for this album they can fight me. What really caught me off guard when I started hearing singing on this album. Some poetic lines like “ Righteous wrath wrapped in empathy, Like a forest fire spreading through the pouring rain“ ( Defender), “ Stuck in a nightmare” ( Paramount) and “ With the truth in our hands, we see the change“ ( Three Fountains) Really give off a sense of urgency without saying things exactly so plainly, it still leaving room for interpretation to the listeners. The timing of this project couldn’t be better to help metal(core) lovers all over resonate with the vibes of this album. There’s definitely some resemblance to the average person that doesn’t stray far from the feeling of being a borderline as a refugee in your own country. The lyrics in this album really stand out especially in such a time we’re living in today through the pandemic caused by COVID-19. Warrior Quotes No Compromise In defense of Mother Earth (Earth First) No Compromise Until every cage is empty (Animal Liberation Front) Yet my mind was not at rest, because nothing was acted, and thoughts ran in me that words and writing were all nothing and must die, for action is the life of all and if though dost not act, though dost nothing. Personally that happened to me 3 times in a row with “ Ties That Bind” specifically. ABR still stay around the theme but find countless interesting ways to twist and turn things so effectively that by the end of the song you feel satisfied yet still urn for another replay. The technicality of the riffs on this project really doesn’t seem to get old or repetitive at all no matter how far they seem to stray from the initial vibe of the song. this project takes a journey on ups and downs so when those brutal breakdowns smash you in the face it really catches your attention and I’ve already had at least 4 “self-isolated mosh pits” here in my room. A lot of metalcore albums I find seem to lack dynamics and everyone is so focused on just shoving as much in your face as humanly possible. Pure aggression in such a complete and tight package like this is pretty rare to come by, at least one that’s consistent through the entire album. As soon as you hit play on “ The Narrative” it really sets the tone for what you’re in for with this new album. ![]()
