![]() I know I am not trying to memorize UW but mabye the logic is not right in approaching the question. I think I mislead myself in the safety of thinking UW + MTBs like everyone posted from exam experiences I read in the forums, made me want to believe the same. Is there an alternate to kaplan videos as I first do not have them, second I heard they are very long of over 200 hours.Īnother book or shorter course I can purchase maybe? Where would I fit that in my schedule for 1 month? Hmm Young Doc, this is like my father giving me an eye opener told you so lesson :notsure: #PURCHASE USMLE PRACTICE TEST OFFLINE#I could not trust the offline types of these tests and wanted to make sure to go the official way by purchasing it. I think my mind was geared for UW style and completely in a different shock from how the actual NBME questions were written. Hi faith! Thanks for replying to me!! The aim now is to definitely do UW again but I think Young Doc's suggestion is also something I need to consider now also. I feel like some basic conceptual adjustments could help you immensely. I would think about trying something new in addition to another tour of UWorld. On Step 2CK, they give you the H&P and labs and expect you to figure out which it is AND initiate the correct treatment. On step 1 they would tell you whether the guy in a coma had DM1 or DM2. They also don't make the important information as obvious as it was on Step 1. Mechanism questions will include not just step 1 basic science concepts, but now they ask about concepts in management. If it's a diagnosis question, they will give you the top 5 items on the differential and expect you to reason which is correct. You have a harder time eliminating wrong answer choices because they ALWAYS give you 5+ reasonable choices. One of the biggest issues is that you can't rely on many of our favorite test strategies. Some of the video resources will help you start thinking in the right way. Your problem might simply be due to knowledge, but my sense is that it's due to a problem in your approach. I would suggest looking at some of Kaplan's video resources. You're definitely giving up a lot of easy points, so there is some sort of disconnect in your approach. You've only got a month left and from the sound of it, you need some serious work on basic content. #PURCHASE USMLE PRACTICE TEST HOW TO#I think some problem is from step 1 pathophysiology and disease identification being a long time ago but I thought I would read first aid step 1 but I think it will take focus away from CK with 1 month left.Īny past exam takers or those who have more ideas on how to adjust my study plan for this month? More books? More UW? More questions from somewhere else? More something? Am I not reading or relying too much on MTB approach? I only saw maybe 3 or 4 questions where maybe the MTB helped but not certain. I have my exam on June 25, so 1 month remaining. These are not great scores to come close to passing above baseline :toosad: Then I read MTB 2CK again and read through all mistake UW questions and did NBME 7 and got a 203. I thought I understood the concept training from MTB books and when reading UW explanations for everything but the NBME was really different from how I thought. I purchased NBME 4 with expanded feedback and it is equal to 195 after 1st round completion of UW, MTB 2 + MTB 3. I finished 1 revision of UW on random + timed. My CK preparation so far was MTB 2+MTB 3 and UW. IMG Grad, passed Step 1 almost 3 years ago with 216. I am finally glad to find a community for people who study from other medical schools in other countries! Maybe I can get your opinions on how to best proceed. ![]()
